Thinking of Joining the LuLaRoe Movement?

Once someone finally catches on to the uniqueness of LuLaRoe, and becomes addicted like so many others, we usually start getting questions about being a fashion consultant. Here's a list of the questions and answers that are most popular.

Q: How does it work?
We purchase clothing from LuLaRoe at wholesale pricing and sell them at retail prices just like a boutique. That simple! We have chosen to store those clothes at Jaida's house where she ships them or delivers to customers or me for further delivery. We sell the collection either on Facebook, at in-home pop up parties, or on our web store through Shop the Roe. We do get to choose what sizes and styles to order, but we can't choose the prints or colors. Every box that comes is a surprise even to us!!

Q: How many hours do you normally work?
We are each working about 15 hours a week including selling, planning and ordering time. It has worked for us to partner in this venture as it still allows us to focus on our families and careers that we've worked hard to build. We use LuLaRoe as a creative outlet for something else to bring joy to our lives and others. If someone wants to use this as a full time job, then there's totally potential for it! It's all about what YOU want to put into it. Finding your personal balance is key and is based on your own goals.

Q: How do you pay yourself?
A: Once you’ve paid off your initial investment, it's recommended to reinvest 50% of your income on new inventory, 10% on business expenses, 10% saved for income tax and that leaves 30% for you to take home! At the time of this post, we are 6 weeks in and have paid off 1/2 of our investment. We are working on building up our inventory first before completely paying off the investment.

Q: How long does it take to pay your original investment off?
It could take 1-3 months to pay off your initial investment of inventory and supplies. Our goal is 3 months and we're on track to do so!

Q: Do I need to build a team?
No – building a team is not a requirement! However, it’s totally awesome.  You’ll earn 5% on every order your downline purchases from LuLaRoe, so this is just an extra opportunity and great for anyone wanting to focus 100% on the movement.

Q: What if something doesn’t sell?
Everything sells. Just when you think it won't, it will! Since each consultant has different inventory, it's not super competitive between shops and just takes the right customer. Wait for the next season, take it to a party with a different clientele, wear it yourself, feature it in an OOTD post. There is always a way!

Q: How long before I get my inventory?
Right now it’s a 6-8 week wait from the time you submit your paperwork.  Which is a perfect amount of time to get prepared for your LuLa launch! As sponsors, we have quite a bit of material to cover for training purposes and a great checklist of tasks to complete for a successful launch!

Q: Can I do this and still work my "other" job?
Yes! Again, it's all about what you put into it! That might be 10 hours, 20 hours, or 80 hours! Jaida works from home most days and in the office two evenings a week. I work 8-5 M-F plus several weekends a month depending on the season. So basically, our schedules are super different, but as partners we can conquer and divide the work since our time is limited.

Q. How many consultants does LuLaRoe have?
Unlike some other companies with similar sales platforms that have hundreds of thousands of consultants, LuLaRoe only has 33,000 consultants as of October 2016. The best thing is that everyone has different inventory, so we're not all selling the same thing. We often trade inventory with each other, encourage shoppers to check out another consultant, and just in general support each other!

Q. What's the minimum requirement to be a consultant?
The minimum requirement is 33 pieces per month, but your account doesn’t become inactive unless you miss that minimum 3 months in a row.

Q. What kind of support do you receive from LuLaRoe?
There is TONS of training from HQ available. Webinars each week, Facebook groups dedicated to training, and handouts galore not to mention daily emails and social communications. As soon as you onboard, we will start flooding you with info!

Q. Who do you use for shipping, and do you get special rates?
We use www.shippingeasy.com and we receive bulk commercial rates! There is a subscription fee of $29 per month but the discounts they provide save way more than that per month. We also have access to a discount code for the first month for a free trial. However, we're hoping to start using shipping through the Shop the Roe platform once its available for a streamlined approach.

Q. How do you control inventory?
We usually order once a week to replenish what we've sold the previous week. We tend to follow the rule of  'order 1.5 items per every 1 sale'. This has helped us build up our inventory without investing a whole bunch more money!  The minimum order is 33 pieces, so we always stick to this at least. We also order 5-10 legging packs with each order as they are always best sellers! Smaller orders ensures having variety in prints and colors, too. We utilize Shop the Roe web platform, which is user friendly for customers AND consultants, meaning that it helps us track inventory and gives great reporting including on inventory status.

Q. What do you do with returned merchandise or merchandise that doesn’t sell?
When merchandise is returned by a customer, it must have the tags on it so you’re able to resell it! Honestly, though, everything sells eventually. If you’re really struggling with something, you could do an inventory swap with another consultant or send back to LLR, but they do have a 15% restocking fee to do so.

Q. How much space does everything take up at your home?
We keep our inventory in a spair bedroom that measures about 200 square foot. There's a desk and shelving unit in our LuLa room as well, which helps set up an office setting for shipping, invoicing, picture loading, etc. It's not much, but it gets the job done! Jaida's husband built us a sweet double sided hanging rack that we keep in the room. We have seen some consultants pack in totes versus hanging it all. Our Pinterest page has several organizational posts that are great for beginners! Check it out here: https://goo.gl/uC4zCP

Q: How do I get started?
Just shoot us an email to let us know you're ready to learn more or to get started. We both have tons of leadership experience from our previous positions which has been helpful in building a fun, knowledgeable and blessed team!

LuLaRoe consultants and one month in...

Wowza! What a month LuLaRoe Kyra and Jaida have had launching our LuLaRoe business. Transparency is one of our key strategies for success, so with that in mind, here's a few tips, tricks, and advice that we learned our first month in:

1.ADVICE: Create a strategy to support your goals! Our sponsor and other consultants told us that to set goals for our first month and beyond, but it took about 3 weeks in before we realized we didn't have the foundation to support those goals. That foundation being a strategy to help us reach those goals. That strategy includes how often we will be in front of our VIP customers, when we will update our Facebook photo albums, how often to book parties, both online and pop ups, etc. How key strategy is:
  • Facebook photo albums are updated with new inventory every Tuesday morning.
  • VIPs will have a chance to shop the newest inventory not yet in albums via a weekly Facebook live video sale on Thursdays at 7pm CST.
  • Facebook multi-consultant sales are great for building clientele, so we will do a multi on any Saturday that we don't have a hostess party (online or pop up).
  • Focus our time on planning larger traffic events to target bulk sales for the month, but use hosted parties for building relationships with our VIPs.
  • Reorder leggings with every purchase so that we never run our and always have a fresh batch!
  • Be Transparent. B-E-TRANSPARENT. Share how why with everyone. Share our how to anyone interested. Share our successes, failures and dreams. This only helps keep it more real for us and following the right path to reaching our goals!!!
2. TIP: Focus on your own business and worry less about others. That's simple enough! Keep your mind set on growing your own LuLaRoe business, clientele and even partnerships, and worry less about al the other stuff you see on social media or hear from other consultants. It's okay if another consultant had an awesome pop up selling over 100 items, or that another consultant received a big batch of unicorn leggings, or that another has 5000+ VIPs and you're still hovering at 500. Each consultant is different with different goals, amount of time, selling technique, etc. Make your business about you and what you want it to be then build those other consultants up! It will come back to you tenfold for sure!

3. TRICK: Utilize SHOP THE ROE or ROW WITH ME. Some sort of online platform that will help you keep track of sales, inventory, and provide an easier shopping experience. We have been using SHOP THE ROE and it has truly been a lifesaver. Especially since our business is a partnership and we live 30 minutes apart. STR has helped us stay organized and on top of our game more than anything else. We learned a lot during our FREE monthly trial and are sure the second month's $9.99 fee will be worth it!

We set a first month's goal to sell 120 items and fell short by only 6. However, the first day of our second month is ending with big sales, several online and pop up parties booked, and new multi-consultant party sales planned. Stay tuned for the second month's update to see how these two working moms are doing with a part-time LuLaRoe business!

Until then, please contact us for any questions on hosting a party or learning more about being a LuLaRoe consultant.
